The refreshing presence of Jesus
Repent therefore, and turn back that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus. Acts 3:14
The greatest blessing we have is to live life in the presence of Jesus. How refreshing it is to repent, turn back from our sins, and be refreshed by the presence of Jesus. Can you hear the fresh streams of water running through the depths of your soul? Can you feel the fresh water flowing through your spirit? How pure. How refreshing is your presence, Lord Jesus. O Lord, plant me near your streams of fresh mercy.
The psalmist wonders, who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? Psalms 24:3.
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false God. Psalms 24:4. Who am I that I would found favour in your eyes? Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you - says the Lover of our souls. John 15:3. You are clean. You are invited to ascend to the mountain of the Lord, if you repent, know the idols of your soul - o anxiety, o fear, o doubts - and reject them in the name of Jesus. Come and sit at the table. Abide in me. Rest in me. Be refreshed by my presence. Abide in my love.
Lord, you alone are the fountain of life and love that I have been striving for. Your love quiets my spirit and liberates me to live life abundantly. I want to love you more and be refreshed by your presence in the depths of my soul. I repent from wanting to be seen as perfect instead of abiding in your perfect love.
